Chief Conductor Emmanuel Villaume leads the Slovak Philharmonic in a special concert on September 26th given as part of the Bratislava Festival. Celebrating the Festival’s 50th year, the concert is also the first given in the orchestra’s 65th season. The program opens with Giya Kancheli’s haunting 2002 work Warzone, followed by Ravel’s Piano Concerto with acclaimed soloist Jean-Yves Thibaudet. Emmanuel and the Slovak Phil close out the performance with Shostakovich’s Symphony No. 5.
