This month, Emmanuel Villaume returns to Bratislava for three programs with the Slovak Philharmonic, each heard twice under the direction of the orchestra’s Chief Conductor. On January 15 and 16, the French maestro leads Strauss’s Don Juan and Horn Concerto No. 2, the latter with soloist Stefan Dohr, coupled with Mozart’s Symphony No. 36, “Linz.”

The next week is dedicated to Mahler’s Symphony No. 9, heard on January 22 and 23, which is followed by a program on January 29 and 30 that includes Albrecht’s Memories and Desires, Chausson’s Poème de l’amour et de la mer with mezzo-soprano Bernarda Fink, and Scriabin’s The Poem of Ecstasy.
